Embrun is the new luminaire collection designed by Etienne Gounot and Eric Jähnke, co-founders of Ozone. It celebrates the 20th anniversary of their company. Embrun consists mainly of a vertical wall lamp, a pendant light and a large square chandelier. While retaining the clean and precise style of Ozone, Embrun aims for a new level of elegance and mystery. Its name – sea spray – evokes light, nature and time.

White onyx was chosen by the two designers for its unique diffusing properties and mesmerizing texture. Like a stream, it is sometimes bubbling, sometimes flowing and always translucent. In addition, onyx is said to bring confidence and protection. To craft it with care, Ozone collaborates with Les Ateliers Saint-Jacques, a renowned French artisan specializing in heritage renovation and exceptional interior design projects. They select, cut and finish this delicate stone like no other.

The geometric shape of the Onyx diffuser is softened by elliptical circles, as if polished by slow marine erosion or centuries-old footsteps on a church square. Time is suspended, like sea spray or memories.
The diffuser is visually balanced on a sleek dark patinated brass structure, evoking a medieval assembly. The invisible complexity of the internal structure holds the luminaire firmly and diffuses a homogeneous light, surprisingly filling the volume of the stone. The magic happens.
To refine the atmosphere, Etienne and Eric integrated the latest dynamic white lighting technology that follows the color of daylight. The light of Embrun is both generous and soothing.

First and foremost, Ozone is the story of a friendship. Etienne Gounot and Eric Jähnke were just 25 when they met, and few years later they founded Ozone in 2000. Combining magic, architecture and technology, light was their inspiration. Since then, the two founders have specialized in lighting design, composing a bold geometry that is sometimes classic, modernist or minimal. To reach the highest quality they aimed at, the two designers established their own workshop in Paris, developing a specific savoir-faire. Ten years ago they opened their workshop to several collaborations with renowned architects and designers, in order to create an exceptional lighting collection.
